The Dark Carnival: Unplugged is an informal, rousing music and theatre show by multi award-winning theatre company Vanishing Point. With songs, spoken word and a free (though not compulsory!) glass of whisky for everyone, it tells the story of newcomers to the afterlife who are surprised to discover that death is not actually the end. Incredulous at their continuity, they form their own necropolitan community where every night is party night.But a mysterious event throws the lives of the dead into uncertainty. When news reaches the cemetery, an underground revolution begins, led by the stoical Mrs Mark and her band of necropolitans.Inspired by Weimar cabaret, danse macabre and classic songwriters of musical theatre such as Kurt Weill and Lionel Bart, the songs find themselves in a musical space somewhere in between Leonard Cohen and The Muppets.
