Listen here to the podcast of the “Power of the Eigg Story, yesterday and today,” an online event featuring three iconic Scottish authors , Lesley Riddoch, Alastair McIntosh and Andy Wightman, who all played a part in the Eigg community buyout.
The event in November 2022 was organised by Comunn Eachdraidh Eige as part of their “Voices of the Eigg Community buyout” programme funded by Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022. It was presented by Calum MacDonald from Lewis who was an MP at the time of the buyout and supported it by asking for a land tax, a land register and a public interest test, all of which are being considered today as part of the new legislation on Land Reform in a Net Zero Nation.
